According to information from the South Korean-based website TheElec, the recently launched P40 series of Chinese technology giant Huawei uses Samsung’s OLED panels as well as other manufacturers. One of the world’s largest manufacturers of LCD, OLED and flexible displays, Samsung Display provides OLED displays for dozens of smartphone brands, including Apple, Huawei, OnePlus, OPPO, Realme, Vivo and Xiaomi. According to the news, the Huawei P40 uses only the BOE’s OLED displays, while the P40 Pro uses the displays of LG Display and Samsung Display as well as the BOE. It is stated that for the highest level model of the series P40 Pro +, the Chinese brand, which prefers only the displays of Samsung Display, has taken this decision since Samsung has higher quality panels and a better supply chain compared to other companies. On the other hand, let’s say that the screens in the Huawei P30 Pro, released last year, were produced by the Chinese BOE, not Samsung. In a previous report, the panels in the Huawei P40 series were claimed to be produced exclusively by BOE and LG Display, but new information from TheElec contradicts the previous ones. The Huawei P40 has a 6.1-inch 1080 x 2340-pixel OLED display, while the P40 Pro and P40 Pro + have a 6.58-inch OLED panel that offers a resolution of 1200×2640 pixels. The Samsung Galaxy 20 series, which rivals the P40 series, came with 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED screens with HDR10 + support. Samsung uses OLED displays on more than 60 percent of their phones, while Huawei uses OLED displays on only 20 percent of their phones, but the Chinese brand plans to increase this rate even more in the coming years.
