Roman Hovorka, a professor at the University of Cambridge, has been working on type 1 diabetes for a long time. Hovorka and her team have now developed the world’s first licensed, downloadable artificial pancreas application for type 1 diabetes patients. The application, called CamAPS FX, works with an insulin pump and a glucose monitor to automatically inject insulin. The diabetes, which is an online platform that enables healthcare personnel serving against diabetes to provide more personalized care, is seamlessly transferred to the user’s blood glucose measurements. CamAPS FX was developed as a result of a 13-year study by scientists from Hovorka and the Wellcome-MRC Institute of Metabolic Science. The developed application can be used by both children and pregnant individuals. The application developed for type 1 diabetes patients seems to reduce the need for continuous adjustment of the insulin level. Thanks to the application that works with insulin pumps, the pump can automatically inject insulin. Fiona O’Reilly, who participated in the clinical studies of CamAPS FX, says she has lived without a burden of type 1 diabetes for the first time since diagnosis. He added that, despite this illness, he looked to his future more hopeful thanks to this application. Type 1 diabetes application CamAPS FX is currently supported by a small number of diabetes clinics in the UK.
