The bug was first identified in Apple Family Sharing. This program allows the user and up to 5 other family members to have access to purchases from the App Store, Apple Music subscription and iCloud storage. However, users reported that they were taken to the app’s purchase page shortly after receiving the error message “This app is no longer shared with you”. Users quickly discovered that they could fix the problem manually, just by reinstalling applications that had the bug. This Sunday (24), several people reported that their iOS devices had dozens of updates pending – a successful attempt by Apple to fix the bug. According to reports, the number of application updates has exceeded 100 in some cases. If Apple hadn’t forced device updates, many users would probably think the app developers were to blame – which could generate hundreds of unfair feedbacks. Apple did not give further details on what actually caused the problem, but it did guarantee that the bug was fixed.
