The new application of Facebook and Instagram is currently being tried as a pilot in the USA. The pilot will focus primarily on accounts reaching large audiences. The social media giant announced that the locations of high-access pages and accounts will be clearly visible in the US trial. For the announcement of Facebook’s new app, Facebook Product Manager Anita Joseph and Instagram Product Manager Georgina Sheedy-Collier wrote a blog post. “These changes are part of our broad efforts to protect elections and increase transparency on Facebook and Instagram,” the duo wrote in his blog post. The new application of Facebook and Instagram, which started to be tested in the USA, may cause the users to increase their trust in the accounts and posts they follow. It is not yet clear when the new practice that is ongoing in the USA will be implemented in other countries.
