Samsung is developing camera sensors for both its own phones and phones of other brands. The tech giant brought the first 1 / 1.7-inch 64 MP sensors, then the first 108 MP camera sensor for smartphones last year. The company has now released a video showing the key features of the 108 MP sensor. ISOCELL Bright HM1 camera sensor has 1 / 1.33 inch size and 108 MP resolution. The company claims that the sensor can take photos with clear and complex details, such as DSLR cameras. Samsung uses ISOCELL Plus technology to isolate individual pixels, reduce optical loss and light reflection to reduce noise. Samsung’s 108 MP camera sensor incorporates innovative technologies Samsung’s NonaCell technology combines information from nine neighboring pixels (0.8μm each) in a single pixel (2.4μm) for high light sensitivity and low noise. This ensures that images shot in low-light conditions are clearer, brighter, and maintain their high resolution. The sensor’s ultra-high resolution also makes it possible to capture 12 MP images without losing significant quality in 3x zoom. Other features of ISOCELL Bright HM1 include Smart-ISO technology, real-time HDR, gyroscope-based EIS, Super-PD autofocus and video recording up to 8K 24 FPS. This sensor is used in the Galaxy S20 Ultra, one of the best phones of the South Korean tech giant. It is reported that Samsung plans to introduce a 150 MP camera sensor by the end of 2020 and aims to develop up to 600 MP image sensors in the long run that exceed the capabilities of the human eye.
